A 19-year-old man, who police say was tripping on two hits of acid, injured his face after making a sudden dive off a wall into Boulder Creek late last week.
The man, whose name was not released by police pending completion of their investigation, has a listed address in Henderson.
Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said the man and a couple of his friends were heading towards downtown Boulder on foot from somewhere near the University of Colorado campus Friday night.
She said they had all consumed LSD.
Around 9 p.m., Huntley said the man suddenly got up on a ledge lining the creek near the underpass at Arapahoe Avenue and Broadway and dove headfirst into a rocky section of the waterway.
She said an independent witness confirmed the incident.
The teen suffered non-life threatening facial injuries and was transported to the hospital, Huntley said.
She said police are still looking into whether to make an arrest on drug-related charges.

Heck, I did that once too ... but I flapped my wings and away I went.
He must have eaten some of that low quality acid that is common in Boulder. That cheap acid the cops put out at our waterholes really inhibits the flying ability during a trip. Just say no!

whoa bro, how deep you think this river is???
gotta be at least a hundred feet...
how far you think it is from this cliff we're standing on to the river??
gotta be at least a hundered feet too....
you don't think the acid we're on is making it look like a bigger leap than it actually is??
no way brah.
sweet dude, i'm going for it!!! I'll swim back to shore after i dive in!!!

Experience is the best way to learn. *note to self: don't do acid and dive into shallow rocky creek*

We need to dredge that section of creek and make it safe for our youth to trip there.

If you listen to the music, you're gonna pay the piper.
At least it wasn't off the roof of a 2 story house.

What ever happened to those flashbacks they promised us?

I was driving down Arapahoe and somebody handcuffed by police and he had no pants on and his penis was hanging out. Was that this guy? If so it must have been chilly water.

"somewhere near the University of Colorado campus"
No surprise.
On another note, why the consideration of whether or not to bring charges? Having LSD in your system is POSSESSION. If you can pull someone off a city street for being publically intoxicated, you can damn sure bust someone for being under the influence of LSD.
Once again. Chief Mark Beckner shows his incompetence both as a leader and a law enforcement official.
While he and his cronies are busy "looking into" things, the rest of us are looking at them and laughing.
