Loud noises, lost armed guard cause stir Thursday evening

A case of mistaken identity and loud noise led to a large police response Thursday evening in northern Broomfield.

Shortly after 5:15 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of shots fired in the 3200 block of Boulder Circle. Police turned out in force, along with ambulance, said Sgt. Heidi Walts.

When officers arrived, they found “an intoxicated male was damaging his property with a hammer and throwing things off the balcony of his apartment.” The damaged property included picture frames.

The man was taken into protective custody until he sobered up. No arrest was made and no charges were filed, so police are not releasing his name.

About an hour later, around 6:30 p.m., a resident in the Westlake area called police to report an unidentified armed man walking around the neighborhood.

Residents said police sent about a half-dozen squad cars to the area of 134th Way and Westlake Drive.

What they found wasn’t sinister at all.

Walts said the man, whose name is not being released, was a lost security guard still wearing his uniform and carrying a sidearm. The man worked for Loomis Armored cars and had just come from work, according to notes from the responding officers.

Police determined he was looking for a church party and had the wrong street. He eventually found the party, which is where police found him, Walts said.

Oh thank you, again, good concerned citizens of Boulder. If you really cared you would invistigate not call 911 from your cell phone as you drive by.
